ERP
Exposure and Response prevention is the evidence-based treatment for OCD. Before starting with a therapist, ensure that they offer this type of treatment.
Many therapists offer CBT (cognitive-behavioral therapy). ERP is a sub-therapy under the CBT umbrella. Just because a therapist uses CBT does not necessarily mean that they offer ERP.

FiND a Specialist
You want to ensure that your therapist has training in ERP and has experience treating OCD. Otherwise, you may risk spending months (or even years) in therapy with no real results.
